Zac decides to .......Split the Big City
Zacs new splitty was everything he was looking for...a classic VW camper from the Sixties.
The vehicle had made the big trip from California and found its new home in London.
Zac and his family planned to make many trips in their new camper.....but when the barn doors were open.....the accommodation was in need of a few more home comforts
With no Bed, Storage, Cooker or Water....something had to be done....So Zac made the trip up from London.....and headed for The Camper Shak.
Because of our proximity to Liverpool airport, we were able to discuss Zacs furniture requirements at the Shak......and 40 minutes later he was heading back to the Capital on a £40 flight with wood swatches, samples and design ideas.
Zac and his family wanted a complete revamp, first a chequered Amtico floor was laid to give the camper an original 60’s look. Next a full suit of Camper Shak Furniture was designed in rich French Walnut.
With all of the camper benches stripped out, it was time to view the available space and plan the best possible use of the Splittys interior
We didn’t have it all our own way as Zac wanted to keep his 15kg speakers in the back. Well we had to design a storage solution around the sound system, yet still providing a reasonable amount of storage space.
Table for four please, with a high gloss white table on a bright chrome table leg, it really gives the camper a real American diner look.
So with the rear speakers sorted it was the perfect opportunity to position a further two in the facia of Zacs matching ¾ Camper Shak Rock n Roll bed. The bed has all matching wood faces, with stainless shims on the base to protect the wood finish.
Matching woodgrain door cards continue the classic theme, opening the interior with the doors folded back
All the units had matching lids, and with pumped water supply, leisure battery and integral Zag gauge, the camper was really shaping up. To safeguard the cooker area the lid and drop down shelf were fitted with stainless steel splash backs
